A first for Villiers honour the women

Mafube First held a women's celebration in Villiers, bringing together women from all four towns of Mafube. What made the day stand out was that it was the first of its kind. Every church in Villiers was invited, and people came dressed in the uniforms of their own congregations, so the room carried the colours of half the town at once. For many of those present, it was the first time they had sat together in one place as women of Villiers rather than as members of separate churches.

The service began at eleven. The pastor delivered a warm and dignified message in support of the women, speaking about the place they hold in their homes, their churches and their community, and encouraging them to keep growing into it. The day ran well from start to finish, and it did what it set out to do: to give the women of Mafube a proper celebration of their own.

For Mafube First, the day carried a lesson worth holding onto. Beyond politics, the church remains one of the few things capable of bringing this community together, and people understood that without needing it explained to them. Bringing people into one room is how this organisation has grown, and it grew again here. Mafube First's leadership met residents of Villiers they had not met before, and the women of the four towns met each other.
